The Stockton sports complex project combined a minor league baseball stadium and an arena that supports ECHL hockey, PASL Pro soccer and community events. These facilities are built adjacent to one another and created a downtown sporting and event district. Both of these facilities systems are designed taking advantage of using the same manufactured products, thus allowing the operation of these facilities to be more efficient.
Input signal from microphones on the field and court side to audio playback from video replay are transmitted on multi conductor analog audio cable being mixed by Allen & Heath mixing consoles. Audio signals are distributed and controlled throughout these facilities utilizing a proprietary parallel network, distributing control and audio to BSS SoundWEB DSP engines.
The sound system design in both facilities is based on a distributive sound system. The stadium has JBL and Community weatherized loudspeakers mounted on poles and attached underneath the fascia in a front, down and rear firing configuration. The arena also has a very similar approach with loudspeakers attached to the roof trussing and under a balcony in a down and rear firing configuration. The back of house spaces, such as writing press, concourses, restrooms, etc., consist of various loudspeakers from JBL, Community and Atlas Sound. Both systems are powered by Crown CTs amplifiers.
Broadcast cabling point to point transmission consisted of 200,000 feet of various triax, video, multi-pair audio, single mode fiber and UTP cabling. The broadcast cabling system connects various points throughout the sports complex, such as camera locations, television truck dock, Electronic News Gathering area (ENG) and radio booths.
MATV signals are derived from off-air antennas, DSS satellite dishes and modulated video from video production. These RF signals are transmitted to the television truck dock, Electronic News Gathering area and telecom closets utilizing a hard-line trunk system. In each telecom closet, the hard-line uses multi-taps, allowing the signals to be distributed to TV drops located in that area of the facility. The MATV system also includes a sub-band return path to the scoreboard control room and television truck dock.
